Perfectionism

  • Do you tend to set up standards for yourself that are super hard or almost impossible to achieve?

  • Do you feel very discouraged, sad or do you feel that you have achieved nothing, if you do not meet the above-mentioned standards, that you have created for yourself?

  • Have you noticed the tendency of being highly critical of yourself or other people?

  • Does your desire to achieve your goals often interfere with you enjoying the process of reaching those goals, or the process of learning and developing?

  • Do you feel that you have recently or further into a distant past, developed an excessive worry of being judged or disapproved by others?

  • Have you ever considered the fact that perfectionism might have affected some of your relationships or even ability to relax and enjoy some rest time?

If, by answering the questions above, made you think that would be useful to talk to someone who might be able to help, please don’t hesitate to contact us. We will talk with you about how our therapeutic and counselling approaches will help you overcome problems related to perfectionism.

The reality is that perfectionism has recently become a growing concern in our Society. We are often told about the importance of doing different activities or behaviours in certain ways or that is important not to make mistakes. These growing societal expectations can contribute to perfectionism. Of course, there are other factors that might contribute to developing unhelpful perfectionistic tendencies, assumptions or even beliefs.

During our counselling sessions or psychotherapeutic discussions will explore and better understand how perfectionism has been affecting your life. We will also help you develop new skills strategies to overcome perfectionism.

If you are ready to address any problems or concerns you might have related to perfectionism, please call us at 647-973-1415 or email us.
