Obsessions can be thoughts, images or even urges that are intrusive, repetitive and tend to stay in awareness for longer periods of time and cause distress and feelings of anxiety to the person who is experiencing them. Compulsions, on the other hand, are behaviours or activities that a person does, in order to reduce the levels of anxiety or distress caused by obsessions.
